5 Ways To Prep Your Home For The Market

Preparing your home for the market can feel like a daunting task, but it doesn't have to be. With a little bit of preparation, you can make your home look its best and make it more attractive to potential buyers. We have put together some tips to help you get started.

1. Curb Appeal

Start with the outside of your home. Keep the lawn mowed, the landscaping neat, and the exterior freshly painted. Pressure wash the driveway and clean gutters and windows. This will give potential buyers a good first impression of your home.

2. Clean and Declutter

A clean and uncluttered home will appear larger and more inviting. Take the time to clean out closets, de-clutter countertops, and organize storage areas.

3. Make Repairs

Be sure to fix any issues around your home before you put it on the market. Repair any broken windows, replace any outdated fixtures, and repair any other outstanding issues that you are aware of. You want your home to feel well cared for and well maintained.

4. Lighten Up & Neutralize

Natural light is one of the most attractive features in a home, so open up your curtains and blinds and let the sunshine in! Freshen the home up with a nice, light, neutral paint. Ask us for suggestions on paint colors! Replace any burned out light bulbs and consider adding additional light if necessary.

5. Stage and Depersonalize

Well placed and attractive furnishings can help potential buyers to better visualize their own furniture in the space. Consider making the home as neutral as possible to attract any and all buyers. Pack away the family pictures. We always tell our clients, "the way you show a home is much different than they way you live in it".

By following these tips, you will be well on your way to getting your home ready for the market. We will help every step of the way! Next step will be marketing your home! The fun part! :)
